arrow ARTWORK FROM THE Studio Arts Program Artwork by Harold Jefferies

Harold Jefferies

Harold Jefferies works through his conceptual designs, which begin as blueprints.  Although the blueprints exist as drawings in their own right, many of the designs are then worked into sculptural models.  Harold is extremely interested in the use of construction materials.  This fascination is evident in the decisions he makes to bring his ideas to reality of form.  The act of building becomes a metaphor for Harold’s life and his sense of the world.  Harold’s work has been featured in a number of prestigious exhibits in Chicago over the past years, including “Autonomous Territories of Chicago” at the Hyde Park Art Center, “3 Acres on the Lake: DuSable Park Proposal Project” at Gallery 312, and “Pedagogy: Beyond Reeling, Writhing, Uglification and Derision” at Columbia College.
