Sue's Scrapbook

Sue, tell us about your scrapbook.

It’s a story. It’s about me growing up from a child to an adult and my life at Little City and beyond.

How did it come about?

I had an idea first to make a video like the one I made in 1989 called “Home Away From Home”. It was about living at Little City Foundation. I decided that I could share my story with more people by making a website instead.

How long did you work on it?

A long time . . .about 4 years.

Why did it take so long to make?

I was learning how to use the computer to scan my pictures and type my story. First I wrote the story by hand and then typed and edited it on the computer. After that, I found pictures to fit my words and then I wrote by hand the captions. I was only able to work on this story with help from John one day a week for an hour after work.

Who is it for?

Sue’s Scrapbook is for all kinds of people. I wanted to share my story and get the word out about how people should be treated; especially people with disabilities.

You dedicated it to your father?

When I was born in the 1950’s, my parents were told that I should be put in an institution. The doctors told my parents that because of my disability, I would never be able to do anything. I dedicated the website to my father because he was my special kind of hero. He told me to keep my dream and never give up no matter what.

What would you like to do next?

Next ? I think I would like to turn my website story into a book.Maybe even a Hollywood movie!

O.K. How do we read your story?

Just click HERE !

Thanks Sue.
